AMD Ryzen sponsors Victory Five League of Legends team in China

Victory Fives League of Legends Pro League team has a new sponsor: AMD Ryzen.

Global semiconductor company AMD announced on Chinese social media platform Weibo that its signed a sponsorship deal with Victory Five (V5). The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) team will promote its AMD Ryzen CPU. V5 confirmed to Sports Business Journal that the AMD Ryzen logo would appear on V5 team jerseys. In addition, the two will also provide co-branded merchandise to fans. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded by Macau businessman Mario Ho, V5 joined the LPL in 2018 as a young team. In 2020, Ho and Sun xiaOt Liwei (the CEO of Honor of Kings teameStar.Pro) merged the two esports companies into a joint effort, Estar Victory Five (ESV5) in Wuhan city, with Ho acting as the chairman and Liwei acting as the CEO. Despite the two teams sharing the same automotive sponsorship deal with BYD Auto, V5 confirmed to SBJ that the sponsorship would not extend to eStar.Pro.

Though ESV5s headquarters is in Wuhan, V5 has a home venue in Shenzhen. V5 performed well in 2022, taking third place at the LPL Summer Split. This might be a reason that AMD sponsored V5. Apart from the League of Legends team, AMD also sponsored Chinas Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) with the Chinese Dota 2 distributor, Perfect World.

Las Vegas has its first champion, Sunday Ticket has another bad week and the NWSL has a new attendance record.
